It has long been known to the Indian public that it is impossible for a tree to grow alone for a year and that it always grows as a small forest and cannot thrive outside its dense community. If a developed sal tree is taken and planted elsewhere, it dies due to loneliness; because he is unable to communicate with his community.

These are our imaginations, of course, but trees have never been as inert as we have taken them to be.
