Social Media Post Links Congress Leaders' Accounts to FIR by Indore Police

The Indore Police announced an FIR against the "handlers" of 'X' accounts belonging to prominent Congress figures like Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Kamal Nath, and Arun Yadav. The case stemmed from a post on social media accusing the Madhya Pradesh BJP government of corruption.
Indore Police Commissioner, now referred to as X, stated that Nimesh Pathak, a local BJP legal cell convener, reported a forged letter allegedly from Gyanendra Awasthi that circulated on social media, claiming contractors were being coerced to pay a 50% commission. The case was lodged against Awasthi and the 'X' account handlers of Vadra, Nath, and Yadav at the Sanyogitaganj police station.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ramsanehi Mishra confirmed FIRs under IPC sections 420 and 469 based on Pathak's complaint, accusing the Congress leaders of sharing misleading posts to discredit the state government and BJP with corruption allegations.
The police are verifying the authenticity of the Twitter handles. Vadra had earlier asserted on X that Madhya Pradesh contractors had written to the High Court Chief Justice about being required to pay a 50% commission. She criticized the BJP, alleging corruption. Similar statements were made by Nath and Yadav.
Narottam Mishra, MP Home Minister, challenged Vadra's claims and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan accused the opposition party of spreading falsehoods. Gwalior police registered a case related to Priyanka Gandhi's post.
