In the final of Asia Cup 2023, Mohammed Siraj won everyone's heart with his bowling.
Siraj took 6 wickets in the title match against Sri Lanka and troubled the batsmen of the host team.
Due to his performance, the Indian team won the Asia Cup.
Siraj may be a star today, but his childhood has been full of struggle.
Childhood spent in poverty :
Mohammed Siraj may be the owner of crores of assets today, but it was not like that since childhood.
Siraj was born in a poor family. His father was an auto rickshaw driver and mother did household chores.
Siraj had a hobby of cricket since childhood and he used to play cricket academy with his uncle.
One day he took 9 wickets after which everyone started seeing his future in this game.
Borrowed money to get puncture repaired :
Siraj's father may have had few resources, but he still tried his best to fulfill his son's dream.
He admitted Siraj to a good cricket academy which was far from his home. For this, Siraj used to go by bike.
The star bowler had told in an interview that his father gave him 70 rupees every day.
Out of that, 60 rupees went in petrol and he ate the remaining 10.
In such a situation, whenever the tire got punctured, he had to borrow money from his friends too.
Performed in Ranji, IPL changed luck :
Mohammed Siraj may be known to people for his performance in IPL. But he did wonders in the Ranji Trophy before this tournament.
Siraj worked as a net bowler for Royal Challengers Bangaloru ( RCB) in 2016.
But he got a chance to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad and then RCB.
Siraj accepted it with both hands and fixed his place in the Indian team by scoring wickets.
Today he is India's top bowler in ODI rankings.
