Purpose of Luna 25 launching :

It had been prepared to fulfill one year mission regarding --

1) to study the soil composition of the Moon's polar region.

2) to study on dust and plasma containing in its thin lunar exosphere.

3) Particularly the South Pole of the Moon had been a greater source of curiosity to the space scientists and experts as it is believed that in the rocky soil of this specified permanently shadowed lunar region might contain frozen water.

If it will be found so, it could be transformed into drinking water, air, and hydrogen fuel used for space vehicles and astronauts.

The lunar south pole always has been a greater challenge to be faced for soft landing of any moon mission ever launched because of deep and dangerous terrains.

It is the  southernmost lunar  point at 90°s where Luna 25 targeted its landing spot.

Luna 25 even proved it's powerful imaging system by sending clear image of the Moon after reaching lunar orbit.

Luna 25 had been launched at 7:10 p.m. EDT (2310 GMT),10th August atop a Soyuz-2.1b rocket from the Vostochny Cosmodrone (the most Eastern Amor region in Russia).

It entered into lunar orbit after 6 days.

Failure of the prestige mission is supposed to be a significant disappointment for the Russian space tasks that will surely decline them from its Global space Power position that would have been achieved with the succession of Luna 25's soft Landing venture when India's spacecraft Chandrayaan-3 is scheduled to land on the South lunar surface on 23rd August.
