The semi-high-speed train, RapidX, has been renamed to NaMo Bharat after the initials of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's name and title. The train is scheduled to be inaugurated on Friday, and the name change was announced just a day before.India has launched the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project to introduce rapid transit in the region. The aim is to connect different parts of the country through semi-high-speed trains, so that people can travel from one city to another in 15 minutes, and the distance between cities and villages can be bridged.
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister's Office announced that Modi would inaugurate the first regional semi-high-speed train from Sahibabad to Duhai.
The name change was announced shortly after.
The Congress Party has criticized the central BJP government for the name change.General Secretary Jairam Ramesh wrote on social media, "After the Namo stadium and the Namo train, there seems to be no limit to self-aggrandizement."Congress leader Pawan Khera said, "Why keep India? If the name of the country is changed to Namo, then it will be enough."According to the information that has been released so far, this semi-high-speed train is much more advanced than the trains that are currently available.
It has comfortable seats and air conditioning. It is not like a metro, but it is designed to cover long distances in a short time and make the journey more comfortable. The maximum speed of this semi-high-speed train is said to be 180 kilometers per hour.
However, it has been tested at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour so far, and the railway board has also approved it.
However, when the train runs with passengers, its speed will be 100 kilometers per hour. It can be increased to 160 in some places.
The Indian Railways has said that it takes 30 to 35 minutes to cover a distance of 17 kilometers by road.
This semi-high-speed train will take only 12 minutes.
The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor is being constructed at a cost of Rs 30,000 crore for this train.
Once the work is completed, it will take less than an hour to travel from Delhi to Meerut via Ghaziabad city, Muradnagar, and Modinagar.
The RRTS project is expected to cost a total of Rs 1.5 trillion and will connect 22 cities in the Delhi-NCR region. The first phase of the project, which includes the Sahibabad-Duhai corridor, is expected to be completed by 2025.The semi-high-speed trains will have a capacity of 3,000 passengers and will be equipped with modern amenities such as Wi-Fi, CCTV cameras, and air conditioning.
