Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the "International Lawyer Conference 2023" held at Vigyan Bhavan in the capital Delhi.
PM Modi expressed his gratitude to the legal fraternity, lawyers, judges, and court staff who contributed to the freedom struggle and the country.
Along with this, PM Modi said in his speech that his government is making a serious effort to prepare a draft of laws in Indian languages in a simple way and to the maximum extent.
While inaugurating the conference of international lawyers here, the PM said that the language used in writing laws and in the judicial process plays a major role in ensuring justice.
He told the people from the legal field, "We are thinking that the law should be made in two ways.
One draft will be in the language you are used to."
"The second draft will be in a language that the common man of the country can understand."
Tradition of drafting laws in a complex way
Modi said that there has been a tradition of drafting laws in a complex way.
Appreciating the legal fraternity, he said that the judiciary and the bar association have long been the guardians of India's judicial system.
Lawyers like Mahatma Gandhi, BR Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel played an important role in India's independence.
Will give new direction and energy to development
He said, this conference is taking place at a time when India has seen many historical moments.
Referring to the passage of the women's reservation bill in Parliament, he said that it will give new direction and energy to women-led development.
He also talked about the G20 summit and the Chandrayaan mission.
He said that India is working hard to achieve the goal of becoming a developed country by 2047, for which a strong and fair judicial system is required.
Modi said, fair justice plays a big role in increasing the world's trust in India.
