In recent news, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the prominent figure leading Russia's Wagner Group, gained notoriety for the group's attempted mutiny against President Vladimir Putin. Unfortunately, Prigozhin is presumed to have met his demise in a plane crash on August 23. What's notable is the conspicuous silence from both Putin and the Kremlin regarding this event. This silence has ignited curiosity, especially in light of several mysterious incidents involving Putin's critics in recent years.

Prigozhin, renowned for his involvement in deploying mercenaries to conflict zones like Ukraine and Niger through the Wagner Group, was last seen in an undated video claiming to be in Africa. This abrupt relocation followed an alleged coup attempt in Moscow in late June.

According to reports from Russia's civil aviation agency, Prigozhin and six senior members of the Wagner Group were on board a business jet departing from Moscow, accompanied by a three-person crew. Tragically, all ten individuals lost their lives in the crash. US President Joe Biden remarked, "I don't know the details, but I'm not surprised. There's hardly anything in Russia that doesn't have Putin's involvement."

Despite mounting speculation, Putin and the Kremlin have chosen not to comment on Prigozhin's apparent demise as of early Thursday. Meanwhile, Putin appeared publicly at a World War 2 commemoration event.

During the Aspen Security Forum in July, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken hinted at this pattern, saying, "If I were Mr. Prigozhin, I would remain deeply concerned. NATO has an open-door policy, while Russia seems to have open windows."
