PM-VIKAS, the Mega project that will be directly beneficial for social economic upliftment especially of backward section of Indian Society involved in traditional professions for centuries.

A pro people government led by BJP led NDA in Center establishes another remarkable instance of it's responsibility towards the privileged class.PM Modi unlocks such a new Mega scheme whats he names it as "Prime Minister Viswakarma Kausal Samman Yojana."

This multi purpose scheme will be officially launched and come to effect on the auspicious day of 'Vishwakarma Jayanti' ( the day of worshiping Lord Vishwakarma,(the God of Artisans,Craftsman and engineering) on 17/09/2023.

It was government's pre planned Multipurpose Mega Project.
The Finance Minister of India,Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman mentioned and discussed about this Scheme during the last Budget Session in February,2023.

Why such project ?

A glorious status data if we notice on handicrafts and artisans products that surely will encourage government to proceed on taking more major and bold initials to do something new more regarding this sector.

Data recorded as per report Dec,2022 -
Artisanal and handicraft products exportation rate including via E-commerce seen a significant growth than 2021 Financial year Rs.25,679 crore to Rs.32,417 crore.It is aprx.26% exportation growth.

Among this, woodware products 7891 Crore, embroidery 5674 crore,metalwares 4179 crore, handprinted textiles 2995 crore are to be mentioned.

As per government estimation around 200 million of Workforce of India are dependent and involved directly in domestic artisan and handicrafts sector through different formal and informal channels.

The skilled workers relating this sectors mostly belong to the Other Backward Community. 

A country can't run smoothly without having a positive approach on this huge number of work forces.

In the last full budget session of Modi government 2.0, the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said while discussing on announcement of PM-VIKAS in Parliament that this package specially designed for the traditional Artisans and craftmen will upgrade their caliber,quality and mostly beneficial integrating them with Micro Small and Medium scale Enterprises value chain.

In the post budget webinar in March the Prime Minister discussed about the status of Lord vishwakarma in the Indian ethos.

A short glance on the mythical identification of Viswakarma as  the chief deity of the Divine Craftsman,the God of Craftsman and engineering.

Modi linked Indian Craftspersons and artisans job to Lord Viswakarma and recognized their respectful traditional professions and named the scheme in such a way of devotional salutation as PM similarizes Indian traditional Artisans and Craftsmen to God.

 Basically people who are engaged in such traditional professions are - Masons,goldsmiths, barbers,laundry workers, Carpenters and others involved in such works.

PM Modi confirms to provide logistic institutional support to every Viswakarma ( i.e. the small Craftspeople and artisans) of India.

Targeting that an arrangement of huge Rs.1300 - 1500 crore funding would be allotted to make this project successfully run.

PM has focused on this scheme in his recent statements and several social media posts that government will ensure not only Financial backing by availing easy loans but also accessing up to date skill training, providing advance support to gain knowledge in digital technology,digital payments, efficient green techniques, connecting with domestic and Global markets,promoting their brands,Social Security and helping them know and learn about MSMEs and linkage with them.

Many artisans among them who will become suppliers and producers for the MSME sector.

It will be a new scope for the industrial world that they will find a readymade Workforce.
They can now increase production according to their market demand by connecting these skilled and organized Manpower.

To fulfill this purpose the industrial sectors can also provide them quality training as market suits.

PM stressed categorically on more better coordination between the banks and the government.It will be more beneficial to access bank loans.
 Bank money will be invested to lead the scheme which can be trusted.

Thus Corporate companies can get quality products at competitive rates and reasonable prices.

Start ups can also create a new market space through E-Commerce that will provide them an additional assistance of better technology, packaging,update designing,financing etc.

Through PM-BIKAS, private sector partnership can be moderated.Artisans and craftsmen can take its advantage here.

The PM made an appeal to all the stakeholders to prepare robust blueprint as there is a Win-Win situation for every stakeholder.

The declaration of launching this Mega project will be criticized from different angles but this multipurpose Mega scheme will surely create a reliable earning source and it will provide a strong financial support base for the small Artisans and the craft persons community to ease their livelihood.

By finalizing such great task the government acts in boosting up economical status of the safeguards (Craftsman and artisans) of 'centuries-old traditions' alongwith revitalizing India's enriched cultural heritage.
