Benefits of Deep Breathing with scietific details
DEEP BREATHING benefits has already been shared in previous post but scientific background behind the benefits of deep breathing is today’s topic.
Deep breathing means lot of oxygen in our body. Oxygen is necessary for synthesis of energy in our body, cellular metabolism and removal of toxins from our body.
Oxygen is also required for digesting food and its conversion into energy.. Details in description part

Flowchart of Oxygen flow in our body
2 oxygen molecules are taken by haem group of haemoglobin which contains iron and binds one oxygen molecule

Each haemoglobin carries 2 molecules of oxygen

So to fulfil our oxygen demand in our body, iron plays very important role. Our diet should have enough iron to fulfil this demand.
To increase iron content, we can shift our cooking in iron pots instead of aluminium or steel pots. (ONE OF MY RECOMMENDATION)
Spinach, legumes, nuts, eggs or meat products are very rich source of iron. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian people can select foods of their choice
Coming back to the benefits of more oxygen in our body:
Nervous System: A continuous stream of oxygen in our brain improves our cognitive skills such as concentration, focus and memory.
Higher Energy: More oxygen means more energy. Whenever there is deficiency of oxygen in our body, lactic acid gets accumulated and we feel fatigue and pain in our muscles
For example: During running we feel pain our calf muscles because there is deficiency of oxygen in our body. So we take rest and inhale more oxygen. Lactic acid gets converted and we feel fresh again.
Higher Immunity: Oxygen is very essential for proper functioning of immune system. Oxygen prevents free radicals in our body, helps in burning of toxins and promotes internal healing of our organs due to regular wear and tear. Oxygen also helps in treatment of infections caused by bacteria and viruses. Oxygen helps in supply of nutrients to our internal organs, hence it promotes our internal health.
Physical Endurance: Oxygen helps in increasing physical endurance of sports persons (Athletes etc) without getting much fatigue during playing activities.
Digestion: Oxygen helps in proper digestion and absorption of nutrients.
Prevents Cancer: Chances of cells becoming cancerous is promoted by acidic environment in our body. Oxygen makes alkaline environment in our cells and helps in minimizing chances of cancer infection. There are scientific evidences behind this claim.
Question: There may be question in someone’s mind that how can we take deep breathing during sleep.
My recommendation is to take light food in dinner and avoid heavy / fried things which take lot of time to digest. So chances of acidic environment in our body get reduced.
How can we increase oxygen level in our body via diet:
To transport more oxygen through our lungs, chlorophyll plays a major role. Chlorophyll has similar capacity to transport oxygen just like haemoglobin in our blood.
Chlorophyll is green pigment which is found in green leafy vegetables.
Including greens / sprouts in our diet helps in transport of more oxygen and it helps in maintaining healthy life style.
Benefits of chlorophyll:
Chlorophyll acts as anti aging agent
Chlorophyll helps in growth of Rd Blood Cells
Chlorophyll is a strong anti oxidant and scavenger of free radicals. Free radicals are formed during digestion of food especially fried foods and heavy foods.
Chlorophyll is rich in Vitamin A, C, K and E which helps to maintain skin tissues. Chlorophyll is also rich in magnesium. Magnesium helps in supporting skin hydration, gives inflammatory response and also promotes oxygen storage in the skin cells
Chlorophyll helps in healing of wounds
Reduction of Oxidative Stress: Oxidative stress happens when there is imbalance of free radicals and anti oxidants. Chlorophyll helps in maintaining the balance and helps in maintaining healthy cellular level.
Chlorophyll rich foods:
- Green leafy vegetables
- Sea weeds
- Fruits (e.g Green apples)
- Wheat grass
- Nuts and seeds
NOTE: THERE MAY BE MANY SUPPLEMENTS FOR INCREASING OXYGEN LEVEL IN OUR BODY BUT I ONLY RECOMMEND DIETARY PART ONLY)
