Welcome to the Joao Felix show! Portugal's star shines once more in an easy Champions League opening.
The Atletico Madrid loanee scored two and set up another as the Blaugrana defeated the Belgian champs 5-0.
Barcelona began their 2023-24 Champions League season with a 5-0 victory over Antwerp, which was motivated by Joao Felix's outstanding performance. In the opening 45 minutes, the Portugal international scored and set up another, netting with a brilliant pulled finish and then laying up Robert Lewandowski's second with an exquisite cross that provided the Pole an easy volleyed finish.
Barca's third goal came more by chance than judgement, as a cross was put in. Raphinha's cross into the area was mistakenly diverted into his own goal by defender Jelle Bataille. Meanwhile, Gavi scored a fourth goal after halftime with a spectacular finish into the top corner as the Catalan giants scythed through the Antwerp defense.
Felix then scored a fantastic back-post header from Raphinha's cross to put the icing on an absolutely brilliant effort.

Defense & Goalkeeper
Marc-Andre ter Stegen is a Dutch footballer. (6/10)
With the exception of a great double-save in the second half prior to the flag being raised for an offside during the assault, I didn't have much to do. A peaceful night.
Joao Cancelo (seven out of ten):
Was permitted to advance and operate in the last third. Located in midfield at times, he was astute with his distribution, crossing and passing deftly.
Jules Kounde (6/10): Handled everything thrown at him with ease and frequently moved forward into the opposition's half. Even attempted a 25-yard shot, which went past the crossbar.
Andreas Christensen (six out of ten):
In defense, he was always in command and had plenty of time to distribute. Calm and collected.
Alejandro Balde (6/10): Occasionally played as a left winger. In the first half, I had an opportunity but hit the side netting. One of his quieter evenings in a Barcelona jersey.
Midfield
Ilkay Gundogan (7/10): He was so graceful with his passing and passed Felix through for the opening goal. His distribution is metronomic, and he is very good at gaining the ball back. A fantastic midfielder display.
Frenkie de Jong (8/10): Assisted Lewandowski's goal with a superb ball. Midfielder who is constantly pressing forward and making things happen. Romeu came on before the hour, but his presence was felt.
Gavi (7/10): Needlessly booked for a late challenge in midfield, although it was his lone error. With a powerful finish into the top corner, he scored Barcelona's fourth goal.
Attack
Raphinha (8 points):
As he crossed the ball, it took a nick off the defender before hitting the post and entering the back of the net, he set up Barcelona's third goal. Delivered an excellent cross for Felix's second goal and Barcelona's fifth.
Robert Lewandowski (6/10): Contributed to Felix's goal and scored the second with an easy finish at the back post. . I was late for a one-on-one. Even with his goal, he was Barcelona's least successful attacker, but it didn't matter.
Joao Felix (ten out of ten):
Scored the first goal with a beautiful strike into the bottom corner, then set up Lewandowski for the second. After Raphinha's enticing cross, he added Barcelona's fifth goal with an amazing back-post header. A magnificent show in which every detail counts.
Oriol Romeu (6/10): Replaced De Jong and kept Barcelona humming in midfield.
Fermin Lopez (6/10): Starting for Gavi. On the ball, he kept it simple and did little wrong following his arrival.
(7/10) Lamine Yamal
Felix has been replaced. He had a fantastic chance to score after around the goalie, but he went too wide and hit the side netting. Barcelona has a player on the field who is a livewire. Torres, Ferran (6/10).
He came in for Raphinha and nearly scored with his first touch, but he wasn't as productive as the player he replaced.
Sergio Roberto (six out of ten)
Joao Cancelo came on in place of him and finished the game at right-back.
Xavi (7/10):
This was always going to be a straightforward win for Barcelona, and Xavi had the foresight to rest certain first-team players before La Liga resumed this weekend. A successful night's labor.
