Ashtanga Yoga:
Performing rituals of eight limbs is called Ashtangayoga. By practicing Ashtangayoga, afflictions become weak and vices are also restrained.
Ashtangayoga Description:
(1) Yama. (2) Rules “Niyama”. (3) Posture “Asana”. (4) Pranayama. (5) Withdrawal “Pratyahar”. (6) Perception “Dharna”. (7) Meditation “Dhayan”. (8) Samadhi.
There are five types of Yama
1) Truth “Satya” 2) Non-harming “Ahinsa” 3) celibate “Brahmacharay” 4) Non-stealing “Asteya” 5) Non-possession”Aparigrah”
1) Truth “Satya”-
Pronouncing that which is seen by the eyes or heard by the ears in the same way is called truth. Truth is a God who does not change even in any time. Everything in the world keeps on changing. Pronouncement of truth will help more in attaining salvation. Truth is such a force that is able to reveal the true form of everything. Truth resides in God. Truth is not dependent on anyone; it is an independent element.
2) Non-Harming “Ahinsa” -
Not hurting anyone with mind, speech, body, money etc. is called non-violence. The origin of non-violence is from the truth, without it is difficult to move forward in meditation, this fast will reduce the sanskars and you will also get peace. Mahatma Buddha had preached non-violence only, the person who does not follow non-violence will never get salvation. By this fast, the practice of seeing god in every object will strengthen every seeker. One should definitely do as much as possible if a man follows the fast of non-violence, even the violent creatures living with him give up violence - it has been read in the books that deer and lion used to live in the same place in the hermitage of sages.
3) Celibate “Brahmacharay” -
Using the object of enjoyment with limits and being engaged in thinking of God is called celibacy. The human body is formed from semen and semen, both of them have the power of God, not protecting them is opposing the God, because of their lack, the body becomes weak and the intellect also slows down. Without protecting it, it will be difficult to sit in Samadhi when the prana reaches the agyachakra or Brahmarandhra. Time protects every kind of body, only semen and semen do. There is no life in the lower part of the body. Without Brahmacharya fast, the restlessness of the mind will not end. The stronger the Brahmacharya fast, the faster the mind will become calm. It is so difficult to observe this fast. It is difficult to write the limit. You should leave the company of those who reach you, such as listening to songs, watching photos, thinking about sex, thinking about beauty, thinking about taste, celibacy cannot be followed by restraining one sense, and it will have to reduce the taste of all senses. Don't try to remove it by assuming ordinary power, because the power to create the universe is in it, such an extraordinary work cannot be done without devotion to God, then you will get the blessings of God, only then you will be able to follow celibacy, before that it is not only difficult but also impossible. . If you don't have any desire to have sex even in your dreams, then believe that I am moving in this direction, there is no fixed time to attack it. This can be followed for household with the consent of both husband and wife. Not alone, one prays to God to make celibacy strong, the other does not do so, the one who has more devotion in his fast will win, so both will have to walk together. Sexual intercourse will be considered a violation of brahmacharya (Celibate), at least do not have sexual intercourse during the time of seclusion, that is, being simple during the time of sadhna, eating satvik food will help in celibacy fast.
4) Non-stealing “Asteya” -
Not doing any kind of theft is called asteya (Non-stealing). To cheat, to lie, to tell something the other way around, to weigh less, to tell something, to do something, to break the rule of something is theft. Gandhi ji has even said that using something without someone's permission is theft. Even if both live in the same room, by observing this fast, the restlessness of the mind gets reduced. Meditation seems to be good, the one who does not follow it, will not be able to meditate, disorder will arise in the body and mind as well, all the happiness of the world will turn into sorrow. Taking bribe is also theft, usurping someone's rights is also theft, telling other's thoughts as your own is also theft. Calling unrighteousness as religion, breaking the fast is also theft.
5) Non-possession “Aparigrah” -
Not possessing more than one's need is called Aparigraha (Non-possession).The fear of theft remains when the money is more. Instead of the name of Ram, the mind is engaged in protecting the money. Keeping more than three clothes in uniform is a privilege. Collecting thoughts is also a privilege. If food is in excess, it is eaten by rats, insects etc. Keeping any art hidden with you is also a violation of the fast. Opening a second shop is also a violation of the fast.
• Rules (Niyama) -
There are five types of rules
1) Poop “Shauch” 2) Satisfaction “Santosh” 3) Tapa 4) Swadhyay 5) Ishwar Pranidhan
1) Poop “Shauch”-
Keeping the body, mind etc. clean is called defecation. Keep the body clean by bathing with water, keep the clothes clean and clean every sense organ with water or soil, keep the mind out of dirty thoughts by chanting the name of Ram. Protect the mind and body from dirty places, clean the nerves through Pranayama, clean the brain through the nose with Jal Neti and Sutra Neti, get rid of constipation, etc. with Triphala, keep the body healthy by avoiding.
2) Satisfaction “Santosh”-
To be happy with what one gets on time is called Santosh. Don't be sad in sorrow, don't bloom in happiness, don't be distracted by hunger, thirst, cold, heat, don't be jealous after seeing someone's money, consider your hut as a palace, don't be afraid, be free from attachment, don't start new means, don't keep the world One who has disinterest in the pleasures of Ram, who is attached to the name of Ram, who does not even want salvation, who does not even have the knowledge of taste. The symptoms written above are of satisfaction only.
3) Tapa-
By tying the senses, mind and intellect to the rules and using them, it is called tapa. Not to be disturbed as the time comes is mental austerity, by austerity the impurities of the senses are removed. And the mind also becomes pure and attains the merit of samadhi. Keeping fasts etc. are also counted in penance. By eating food strictly according to the rules, the mind remains healthy and the mind is happy, there is an increase in good qualities, doing fierce penance with the stones of fire and ice is done for show off. Those who do penance to get respect from people do not benefit as much as it causes pain. Keeping the mind and senses under control is called the best penance, doing bhajan according to the rules, sleeping, waking up, is going to remove sorrows.
4) Self-study “Swadhyaya”-
To know about one's actions, which actions are happy and sad, to keep checking and to study Gita, Upanishads related to God is called Swadhyaya. To know Prakriti Purush i.e. to have an interview is called Swadhyay. Studying the books written by Vedas, Shruti, Saints' words, Kabir's words and Guruvani Nanak etc. also comes under Swadhyay. Studying Yogadarshan, Sankhyadarshan, Vedantadarshan etc. will also help in doing spiritual practice.
Removing all the flaws that are inside you will also get the result of self-study, keep doing your work, don't ask for the result. It is also a matter of self-study that Lord Shri Krishna has said in the Gita that Karma too. Except the worship of God, all actions are binding factors, chanting Guru Mantra is also self-study and doing every work according to the rules, that is, it is called self-study.
5) Ishwar Pranidhan-
Being in the presence or refuge of God is called Ishwar Pranidhan. God should be worshiped with chanting and meditation. Chanting means chanting the mantra given by the Guru, after that meditate on your presiding deity. And think about his form. Name and fame are related to time immemorial. That's why it is best to chant and meditate. If you please your presiding deity, then it is not too late to go to the samadhi, all the troubles will end. When this happens, you will surrender yourself to the presiding deity. Once upon a time Arjuna was driving the chariot, Arjuna stopped the chariot and said to Lord Krishna that the deer passing ahead did not augur well. Shri Krishna said, Arjun Har Bade or Hiran Bade, Krishna Bade Ya Shyam, Arjuna meaning Arjuna will do it, Ram will see many times. I have come to know that the seeker finds it difficult to follow Yama-Niyama, leave the patience thinking that this obstacle has arisen only to stop your practice, it should be expected of a fool, the more knowledge you have, the better you will do bad deeds, bad deeds will go to hell. I am going to take you with great difficulty, so I am working towards this ultimate goal, work, anger, attachment, greed. Renunciation brings peace. It has been heard about Karma that the one who approves and the one who helps feels equally guilty. One has to walk very carefully. Staying under the shadow of Mahatmas and Saints, these faults will hurt you less. Their penance will destroy all your virtues. Will do it after getting time, you will get victory over all the troubles, you will get success only if you keep busy.
• Posture (Asana) -
Sitting comfortably is called asana. Accomplishment of the asana is necessary, without this the sadhana will not progress. Leaving all the restlessness of the mind and sitting in peace, the asana is achieved by focusing on your favorite. Adopt the asana on which you can sit comfortably for a long time, similarly Siddhasan and Padmasan. reaps more benefits. When the posture is perfect, the cold and heat do not bother and the power to bear the pain comes. Without asana siddhi, there is no pranayama either. There will be air disorders while sitting, only then you should practice by applying posture, doing this way will help in proving the posture. My experience only considers Siddhasana to be correct. The method is as follows: Fold the left leg first and place the right leg on top of it. If both feet and ankles are on the ground, the asana will be correct if the heels are right in front of the navel. Keep a small pillow etc. below, keep the neck, chest and head at the same level. Some asanas should be done to heal the body. With exercise, both the mind and body will be fine and it will also help in awakening the Kundalini.
• Pranayama -
Stopping the normal movement of Prana is called Pranayama. Asana Siddhi is necessary before doing Pranayama, otherwise there will be disorder of air and there will be difficulty in doing Pranayama. Pranayama destroys the sewage of all the nadis of the body. And the way to go to Prana Brahmarandha becomes clear, just as gold leaves all the dirt after being heated in the fire and assumes its original form. In the same way the body becomes clean; pulling the prana in through the nose is called purak and throwing it out from inside is called rechak; stopping it outside or inside is called kumbhaka. Pranayama helps in awakening the Kundili, Mahamundra also helps in awakening the Kundalini, but do Pranayama under the supervision of an experienced person. Otherwise, there will be a lot of risk of loss instead of profit. Work can also be done only by pulse modification. By closing the right nostril with the left nostril, gradually supplement the prana from outside, that is, inhale and exhale slowly through the right nostril without stopping, or do laxatives. When this is done, remove the thumb from the right nostril and leave Put your finger on the right nostril in this way and do purgative from the left, initially do it three times with both the nostrils, after one month it should increase one by one in fifteen days till it reaches twenty times or do milk if you feel hot or dry. Put four drops of almond paste in it and drink it and use it. After this do Bhastrika, sit on Bhastrika Siddha or Padyasana and keep your eyes closed. The body should not be loose, the neck, chest and head should be in one level and keep both the knees, close the mouth, focus on exhaling the breath from both the nostrils first two to four times calmly, then exhale rapidly for 25 times. Have to reach 100. Don't use lemon, tomato, curd, lassi, sour, jaggery, oil, otherwise air disorders will occur. With both these types of pranayama pulse will be amended, the work of meditation will be fine. Pranayama should be done on an empty stomach, especially in the morning or Have an evening.
• Withdrawal (Pratyahar) -
When the senses become devoid of their subjects and become Tadakarasa in the form of mind is called Pratyahara. When the senses do not catch hold of any external object and merge into the mind, then remember that Pratya is defeated. It has been proven. That is, the senses are brought under control. As long as the sense organs do not stop taking their pleasure, the mind will remain fickle. In the fickleness of the mind, meditation will not take place. Yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara are means outside samadhi. Not of the inside. It is necessary to have restraint on perception, meditation and samadhi for the internal means and to get yoga vibhuti, first man does perception. Then while meditating in it, he reaches samadhi. Having all these three in any substance, dharana, dhyana, samadhi is called samyama.
• Perception (Dharna) -
Dharana (Perception) is the name of applying the instincts of the mind on any country or deity outside or inside the body. Nabhichakra, Mooladhara, Heart Lotus etc. are the internal places. Thinking about any object or thought comes under perception. The belief towards God has to be strengthened. Only then will try to find him. Lord Vedvyas has explained through an allegory that two streams flow, one goes towards the bondage of the world and the other goes towards the path of welfare. That is, the current of the world is already flowing with full speed towards salvation. Even a human does not try to get out of it. This stream is open from birth. Start digging it with the shovel of perception from the samadhi in the form of knowledge. Shut it down and search for the stream of welfare with devotion and deepen it so that the stream never stops again.
• Meditation (Dhayan) -
Continuous flow of an instinct in a substance is called meditation. Meditate on an empty stomach in the morning and evening, keep the neck, head and chest at the same level; Before meditating, blow out the breath from both the nostrils; Remove all worries from the mind; Offer bhog by offering obeisances to the presiding deity 21 times with your heart. Before meditating, do tratak on the big toe of your presiding deity, that is, by tying a tick, keep looking continuously for two minutes without blinking. Even while meditating, you have to look inside at the thumb. Try to increase the time of meditation by 5 minutes after every 20 days. A practitioner of up to three hours will automatically enter the samadhi. Put it on the previous place. The restlessness of the mind has a special relation with the movement of the soul. If one stops, both stop, that's why it is best to do Pranayama. With that the prana will start stopping and it will help completely in meditation and doing Mahamudra also affects the speed of the prana. Prana will stop due to that and it will help completely in meditation. The fifth method of the fourth Pranayama should be done. It is like this, Prana is coming out or in, that is, wherever it is, the mind is also there. If you are working somewhere, don't pay attention to these things and concentrate on it. Start looking at the feet of Shri Guru's thumb and keep looking continuously, that means automatically the life will stop and you will start kumbhaka. And meditation will also become stable, it is best to do this Pranayama, all means do not have much value in front of God's mercy. As much as possible, try as much as possible to surrender yourself to God. Gurudev, use the method written below to end the pride of the mind. And prostrate in front of the deity's form, that is, lying down, both the hands should be straight and the legs should also be completely straight, the forehead should be resting on the ground, the stomach and the chest should also be on the ground. Say like this, there will be benefit. Purity is very important in action, only then there will be no benefit from hypocrisy, there will be no benefit; yourself. To surrender. That's why it's okay to meditate on Muladhara. The Kundalini passing through Muladhar will merge with the reed bone and merge into the Agyachakra, there will be convenience in climbing step by step. Everything will be experienced on reaching the Agnyachakra. Agnyachakra or Sahasra Kanwal Dal is the right place for Sampragyat and Asamprajyat Samadhi. When the Kundalini does not wake up, there will be no spiritual knowledge inside. The chakra on which the Kundalini will reach, it will give full awareness of that chakra with its light. Its light is so supernatural. Spiritual knowledge will increase so much that you will be surprised. Will go you will be able to see the inside with its light and you will have total disinterest in the world. You will leave and meditation and light will remain for 24 hours. Kundalini will wake up with the grace of Guru and God, call of a pure heart and pure deeds and will have to do sadhna by being bound by the rules. There is no need of any spiritual practice for self-surrender, it is necessary to eat and wake up according to the rules. If you follow meditation as the goal of your life, then you will get success.
• Mental concentration (Samadhi)-
When the flow of mind's instincts continuously flows in a substance, it is called Samadhi. When good meditation takes place, the same meditation turns into samadhi, for example, imagine as if I am meditating on a cow, as long as I have the awareness that I am meditating, it is meditation and when I look at the cow and the meditating has something to do with me. It is not known, that is, if it becomes one form, then it will be called Samadhi.
There are two types of Samadhi- 1) Sampragyat 2) Asampragyat
In sampragyat samadhi, the relations of instincts are stopped. And in Asampragyat Samadhi, there are no instincts. Only the sanskars remain outstanding. And the soul becomes stable in its own form after the sanskar is over.
Sampragyata Samadhi has four types – a) Vitarkanugata Samadhi. b) Vicharanugata Samadhi. c) Anandanugata Samadhi. d) Samadhi identity related.
a) Argumentation remains in the divisive samadhi whether there is a God or not.
b)This thought becomes fixed in thought-conscious samadhi. Keep on searching that there is God.
c) There is only joy in Anandanugat Samadhi. Nothing else.
d) In asmitanugat samadhi, there is only the sense of identity. From this samadhi, the knowledge of discretion is born and the difference between man and nature is known and the instincts of the mind are also restrained. I get knowledge of present, future and past.
