During a Union Cabinet briefing Central information Minister Anurag Thakur announces this historic cabinet decision amidst the situation of now's high inflation.
Broadly speaking it is a triangular good news for the middle and lower economic class of India ahead of upcoming long time festive season as -
Declaration of INR 200 (approx $2.4) price cut per cylinder for general consumers of domestic households using 14.2 kg (33 pounds) LPG cylinders.
Declaration of total INR 400 relief per cylinder for the enlisted beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Scheme.
They will now enjoy price deduction of INR 200 along with INR 200 subsidy which they are already benefited with as they are being subsidized 200/- from the month of May,2022.(INR 400 in total).
There is another historical announcement of 75 lakhs (7.5 Millions) new free LPG connection all over the country.

To meet these huge additional enhanced LPG subsidized amount of INR 7680 Cr. (40 billions), government already confirms it's budget arrangement of approx 76 Billions during current 2023-24 Financial year.
This bold decision taken by government has been a big challenge whereas the ratio of India's LPG importation is nearly 60%.
And in addition, the global LPG price has been continuing high upto 303% since the month of April, 2020.
With this price cut move, the new price of an LPG cylinder containing 14.2 kg cooking gas will now be reduced to INR 900 in average for domestic consumers.
And the "Welfare Program Beneficiaries" under PM Ujjwala Yojna Scheme will now avail per LPG cylinder in 700/- in average price ( 200/- price cut and 200/- subsidy)
This right time decision initiated by the Government of India will be very helpful for the middle and lower class householders in larger extent to minimize the financial stress developed by high price rises of essential commodities caused by repeatedly growing inflation.
It is to be noted that in July,2023 Indian economy felt the highest retail inflation quake in last 15 months.
Earlier while interacting his Countryman through his 'Maan ki Baat' program on 27th August 2023, PM Narendra Modi focused on women empowerment and he mentioned and congratulated women powers whose contribution remained up to the mark in the successful Chandrayaan-3 Mission.
He also wished in advance for the Raksha Bandhan and Onam Festivals.Basically such social occasions related to the women class of India and he did accordingly as he gave hints probably something good to be announced for this specified community.
Modi clears it by saying that this decision taken is a Gift for millions of Sisters of the country.
As per National Sample Survey office reports - above 90% households of some states like Karnataka, Goa,Telangana,Sikkim and the capital city Delhi consume LPG as primary energy source.
Plus in India households of urban areas nearly 90% consuming LPG for cooking purpose in average and
approx 50% of rural households across the country consume it is the primary source of energy for cooking.
Whereas LPG plays a remarkable role of 8% national retail inflation - thats really a matter of very concern.
About 18% price cut declaration in LPG will definitely bring such alarming situation under control and will ease the middle and lower class livelihood.
Modi again assures government's commitment to do every possible task to improve the quality of life especially of the middle class and poors.
This lower middle class Society always been a vote factor to change government or support a government to retain in power.
And Modi's assurance of doing everything possible for Improvement in their life...is it an indication of more pro-people 'masterstroke' yet to be announced as a rehearsal of upcoming general election ?
