Ministry of Railways, Government of India launches ‘One Station One Product’ (OSOP) Scheme with Indian Railways aiming to promote ‘Vocal for Local’ vision for providing a suitable market for Indigenous Products and create additional earning opportunities for the people belonging to financially backward sections.
The "One Station One Product" Scheme is a Government of India innovative project launched by the Ministry of Railways in 2022.
The Union Finance Minister of India announced this Scheme during 2022-23 Budget Session.
What special about this scheme that OSOP Outlets are alloted at railway stations not only for selling but for providing high demand of the locally manufactured indigenous products.
The pilot project of this Scheme was started on 25.03.2022 covering 728 Railway stations in total with 850 OSOP Outlets in 21 States and 3 Union Territories.
These OSOP Outlets are well-decorated and designed by the 'National Design Institute'.
Number of Registered beneficiaries from March 2022 till the date has already gone over 25k.
OSOP products/items are categorized as below:
1.Handicrafts,
2. Textiles,
3.Handlooms,
4. Traditional dress-ups,
5. Local agricultural products including Millets,
6. Processed and or semi processed food items.
Indian Railways allots standard designed Outlets.
Such Outlets are of different types of forms as Fixed stalls,Kiosks, Portable stalls,Trolleys at specific railway stations.
Product Category will be of indigenous, should be GI tagged,local to that specific region, and should be included handicrafts, textiles and handlooms, toys, leather products, traditional instruments,indigenous garments, jewellery made by local tribes and processed/semi- processed and other food products manufactured by local people and their ingredients should be grown up in these areas.
Individuals of financially weaker sections and Self Help Groups are encouraged to get involved.
Issued allotment period is 15 days to upto 90 days on payment of a nominal registration fee for one who likes to participate in this Scheme.
Applicants who meet objectives of this Scheme are provided allotment on rotation basis.

2. Craftsman,
3. Weavers,
4. Tribals,
5. Farmers,
6. Members of Self Help Groups,
7. Members of Women Self Help Groups,
8. Members associated with registered Micro Enterprises,
9. Members associated with Social Organisations, State Govt Bodies etc.
The products allowed to be installed in OSOP outlets are of agricultural, dairy, local food items, handicrafts, handloom, textiles, tribal traditional products and homemade products and appliances.

The OSOP scheme is a positive, innovative initiative having the potential of upgrading the financial status of unemployees belonging to grassroot privileged classes promoting local product Manufacturing.
The Scheme has been well received and broadly supported by the local people and it can demand credit for increasing awareness of local products and creating a unique market for those.
Alongwith boosting up the local economy by such inclusive way creating new source of jobs this extraordinary concept is going to be proved itself a stable platform to preserve the enriched cultural heritage of India.
